It's sounds like yet another resource I'd use to network with folks so I thought I'd pass it along.
(...and yes, right now you'd need to ask some friends to sign up as well to get ahead of the queue. If I get anymore details I'll let you know).

I've yet to give Inventalator a good look but I can sum up the Quirky experience. It's a great idea in CONCEPT but I've been less than thrilled with the execution. In theory, you'd have a hard time bringing a product to market and they offer up a community plus build/prototype/test, marketing and patent, sale etc... The inventor gets 30% or more at minimum and the community (who picks color, price, name , tagline etc..) gets a percentage as well. I've been a member for a long time but the residuals made are in no way something that makes up for the time someone, other than a housewife, would devote to sitting on their site and assisting.
I came to MakeXYZ (and inventalator) b/c I have projects, development testing, distribution and some patent help but I don't have any prototyping / skills or funding (though I could get backing either via kickstarter or privately if I had something physical to show).
My hope for both MakeXYZ and Inventalator would be to find a team of people to partner with. Folks who could use my skills and connections to get products out there and in-turn help me get drawing-board ideas in to prototype form to get in front of buyers.

See the above link to see Sintratec SLS machine. Need to buy one right away. Only 8 left at the introductory pricing. All of the makexyz community should see this machine. Brian Newnan
