OK I don't get it. I've always heard that when printing, PLA smells like waffles....

But I really don't see the similarity. Or I guess I should say, smell the similarity.

So, haha, what gives?

elpulpo - No idea at all, mate. I've never noticed a waffle-like smell from PLA but I guess it smells a tad more waffly than ABS does! :-D

ivanpope - I think they smell like waffles! I assume it's to do with the fact that pla is made from corn starch and that it is actually cooking as it prints!

vinnie90 - waffles??? Where are you buying your PLA. I want some!!!

Heads up any plastic manufacturers out there! This could be a market. Mix some perfume products in your plastic so when you print it gives your office a nice smell. I would probably buy that.

nyl0cke - PLA is a rather sweet smell. I always thought of it as high fructose corn syrup kinda smell (try cooking some of that). One of my favorite plastics to print because of the smell. Nylon smells musty like an attic.
